Information about ASRO

ROMANIAN STANDARDS ASSOCIATION - ASRO
ASRO is a non lucrative association, a Romanian private legal entity of public interest, non governmental and apolitical, set up as a national standards body on basis of the Government Ordinance No.39/1998, Law 177/2005 and Law No.355/2002 and recognized as a national standards body by the Government Decision 985/2004.

ASRO is a full member of CEN - European Committee for Standardization (01.01.2006) and a full member of CENELEC - European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (01.02.2006)

ASRO is a member of ISO - International Organization for Standardization (1950) and IEC - International Electrotechnical Commission (1920)

ASRO is an observer member of ETSI - European Telecommunications Standards Institute (2005)

Main duties:
To establish the principles and methodologies of the national standardization
To develop and approve the national standards and to participate to the activities of the European and international standardization
Management of the documentary fund of standards and publications in the field of national and international standardization
To assure the public information in the field of standardization
To edit, publish and disseminate the standards and publications of standardization
To represent ISO and IEC in Romania and defend the copyrights on the international adopted standards
To provide services and products to standards users with a view to meet their requirements
To promote the respect of the copyright on the European adopted standards
ASRO grants upon request the national conformity marks SR (conformity to Romanian standards on product) and SR-S (conformity to Romanian standards on security)
