According to the national copyright law, translations of standards or creating derivative products are the exclusive rights of ASRO as the National Standardization Body.
Effective elements for copyright protection:
Standards are sold on hardcopy or on CDs.
On hardcopy each standard carries the ASRO registered mark, the copyright notice, the coloured stamp of ASRO and the following reference: "No reproduction, partial or entire use of this standard in any kind of publication or by any means is admitted without prior written consent of ASRO"
On CDs - besides the above-mentioned protection elements, each CD is supplied together with a license agreement specifying the conditions and terms of use. Each CD requires a password in order to be active. Standards are in a non-revisable format - PDF and cannot be copied.
A single printed copy is permitted on demand.
As for promoting the fact that standards are copyright-protected, ASRO takes every opportunity to publicize it. There is a published brochure regarding copyright protection of standards. Also there is a separate page regarding copyright protection of standards on ASRO web page.
ASRO organizes workshops and seminars addressing public authorities, economic agents and professional organizations concerning the meaning, the rights and the obligations derived out of copyright protection of standards.
